Climate Change and Human Health workshop held in Ajman, UAE

Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health (ECIPH) – a unit of CHD Group collaborated with Gulf Medical University, Ajman UAE and Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University to hold a workshop on Human health and climate change recently on the sidelines of COP28 meetings championed by UNFCCC.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor – Academics, Gulf Medical University.

International speakers like Dr. Edmond Fernandes, CHD Group,  Dr. Cecilia Sorenson – Columbia University, USA,  Dr. Fatemeh Rezaei, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, Salome Owuonda, Kenya participated in the session along with other speakers within the university.

Prof. Dhayaneethie, Commissioner, Ministry of Education, UAE was the accreditation observer and special invitee.  

The focus of the workshop centred around how health systems must revise their curriculum and be better prepared to address health risks emerging out of climate change.

Prof. Jayadevan Sreedharan, Acting Director, Thumbay Institute of Population Studies facilitated the entire programme.
